Mindful Living: The Art of Being Present in an Increasingly Distracted World
Meditation and Mindfulness for Anxiety and Stress Management

Being present and mindful is easy in a retreat setting or while you are on vacation, but how do you integrate these skills into your daily life when the kids are yelling and dinner is burning?
Join me on a 4 week exploration of the mind. Life can be stressful, but often, it is not the actual events that cause the stress, but rather our responses TO these events that triggers our stress response. This popular class teaches skills that help you stay in the moment and not get carried away by life. You will learn techniques for dealing with stress and also get help starting your own meditation practice in 5 minutes a day, which can help build your resiliency over time.  Syllabus covers topics including breathing, body and movement, mindful technology use, your stress response, mindful communication, music meditation and much more.  Come out armed with a toolkit full of tips and techniques for facing our frantic world, and the ability to just take a deep breath (and actually have it do something!)

Thursdays May 7, 14, 21, and 28.  6pm-8pm. Attendance at all 4 sessions is strongly encouraged.
$20-40 for all 4 sessions (sliding scale, scholarships available). This spring session is offered exclusively for patients at Mountain View Natural Medicine and is paid for largely by their community health team dollars.  All participants will receive a copy of "Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World".

Mindful Spring Cleaning
Clear out the parts of your life that aren't serving you and make room for the person you were meant to be.

Saturday April 27th from 9am-4pm at Dharma Door in Underhill.  Another exciting day of mindfulness, movement and motivation, this time with the added bonus of an interactive cooking hour at lunch with Andrea Todd!  This day is meant to help you step back and take a look at all areas of your life and see the interconnectedness of what makes you who you are.  By visioning the future, you are better able to lay down a road map on how to get where you want to be.  Through all of this, my hope is that you leave inspired, thoughtful, and ready to steer your own ship wherever it wants to go.  $155 for the day includes 3 individual coaching sessions to use afterwards to deepen your learning and continue your motivation. ($5 scholarship spot still available, ask for details)

Agenda includes:
30 minute authentic movement with Abbi Jaffe (no yoga or flexibility required!)
Introduction to Mindfulness / Mindfulness practice sessions
Vision board creation/sharing
Start of your own personalized health plan
Interactive lunch preparation / eating healthy and local with Andrea Todd

Limited to 12 participants, contact me now to reserve your space!

Guest teachers:
Abbi Jaffe (leading movement session and hosting the space) has been creating emotionally and physically safe spaces for exploration and expansion since her days of leading Outward Bound wilderness trips over 10 years ago.  Abbi weaves movement community in Vermont and holds space for the Montpelier Contact Improv Community and the annual Burlington International Contact Jam.  She co-leads wilderness trips with her company Ready Adventures.  After 5 years of practicing Thai Massage, Abbi now studies Body-Mind Centering and  Authentic Movement and shares Centering Bodywork.  Abbi would love to welcome you to her community retreat space in Underhill called Dharma Door.
Andrea Todd, (leading cooking lunch hour) has been learning by experimenting and trying new things in the kitchen for years, and she loves to share ideas, tips, and recipes.  She sticks to simple recipes that taste good, and are easy to make. Students will learn how to use and process seasonally available items.
Andrea first learned about the joy of cooking and experimenting with food when she worked in the produce department of the Onion River Coop in 1998. Over time, her experiments in the kitchen were shared with friends, and she has been cooking with friends and for friends ever since. She has taught cooking classes in Burlington at Seventh Generation, City Market and the Intervale Community Farm. As a trained teacher with a Masters in Education, she uses a model of instruction that includes instruction of the skill, practice with guidance, and independent mastery.
Andrea loves to share her knowledge in hands-on learning environments, and the kitchen is as exciting as any another classroom!

Mindful Resolutions
Dream it. Live it.  A retreat to step mindfully into the new year.

Join me on January 12, 2013 from 9am-3pm in the beautiful retreat space at Dharma Door in Underhill, VT for a full day of mindfulness, movement and motivation. Then use the 3 free coaching sessions in the next 2 months to take action to get there!

I am excited to be sharing this time with two other fabulous teachers.  Abbi Jaffe of Dharma Door will be starting the morning with a movement session to awaken our senses and get grounded for the day (no yoga experience or flexibility necessary!).  Julie Leaf, LCMHC, will be facilitating the mindfulness portions. Julie is in private practice in Burlington and has also worked in community mental health and university counseling centers.  She has trained extensively in mindfulness-based approaches and has been facilitating mindfulness groups and retreats since 2006.
